Roleplay server creators Cfx.re is now officially part of Rockstar Games

The biggest Red Dead and GTA roleplay communities are now officially part of Rockstar Games

Rockstar Games has announced that Cfx.re, the team behind GTA Online's FiveM and Red Dead Online's RedM roleplay servers are not officially part of Rockstar Games, confirming that the studio plans to officially support these dedicated roleplay servers moving forward.

As part of their new partnership with Cfx.re, Rockstar Games have also expanded their policy on mods to officially include mods that are made by the roleplay creative community. Ironically, Rockstar Games had previously banned GTA Online's FiveM mod, and their publisher Take-Two had made efforts to shut down the project. Now, Cfx.re and Rockstar Games are partners, and Rockstar has plans to improve (console servers perhaps?), and likely monetise, these roleplay creative servers.

Below is what Rockstar Games had to say about their partnership with Cfx.re.

Today, we are proud to announce that Cfx.re — the team behind the biggest Rockstar roleplay and creator communities, FiveM and RedM — are now officially a part of Rockstar Games.

Over the past few years, we've watched with excitement as Rockstar’s creative community have found new ways to expand the possibilities of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption 2, particularly through the creation of dedicated roleplay servers. As a way to further support those efforts, we recently expanded our policy on mods to officially include those made by the roleplay creative community.

By partnering with the Cfx.re team, we will help them find new ways to support this incredible community and improve the services they provide to their developers and players.

We look forward to sharing more in the weeks and months ahead.

Rockstar Games has said to expect the company to share more aboput their partnership with Cfx.re over the "weeks and months ahead". At this time, it is unknown what will happen to Cfx.re's Patreon page. Now that Cfx.re is officially part of Rockstar Games, there is no need for PC gamers to support the team, as Rockstar Games should now be paying the team.
